Globalization is down…

Last week I was commuting to San Francisco from Berkeley by bus, and there were noticeably fewer container ships in the Oakland terminal than previously–down to as few an one per day, when before there had been 6-8. I take this as confirmation that shipping is down as a result of the economic crisis, as shown below; which is also an interesting measure of globalization and the increase in imports to the US, if not exports from the US.
