NBI workshop on measured building performance

Today the New Buildings Institute had a workshop in Washington on measured buildings performance. The interesting part to me was hearing about several new public sources of stories and data on efficient buildings:

  • ASHRAE’s new High Performance Buildings magazine. They are also working on protocols for data collection on building performance.
  • BuildingGreen.com. Nadav Malin talked about their growing database of high performance buildings, and that Google Earth now has a “featured layer” where you can seen the location and a photo of the high performance buildings.
  • Green Building Alliance. Another growing database.

The workshop then broke into groups to talk about the data needs and challenges from different perspectives. It’s a good effort.

Tomorrow is the NBI board meeting, then it’s home to a warmer place…
